Beach District takes first step
to reduce losses for bad debts
In an attempt to reduce bad debt from
tenants who move without paying their
water services bill, the Channel Islands
be implementing a new policy to make
property owners more accountable for
paying any debt a tenant accumulates.
Ordinance 77 was given a first reading
at the district board’s June 23 meeting
and would go into effect after a second
reading and passage at the July 14
meeting.

Hueneme Beach Festival seeks art,
craft vendors for Aug. 22-23 event
The Toni Young Hueneme Beach Festival is
inviting arts and crafts vendors to participate in
this year’s event Aug. 22 and 23 along
Hueneme Beach Park.

Applications for reservations are being
accepted through July 31; however,
applications received after July 24 will be
accepted on a space-available basis only,
according to festival organizers.
Original artists and craft vendors along with
spaces, should call the event hot line at 805-
986-6542 or go to the Web site at

application.

Possible resolution in dispute
between city, homebuyer
toward foreclosure may be moving
toward resolution between the city of
Port Hueneme and the other involved
parties. The City Council, in its regular
meeting July 6, voted to approve
revisions to its loan default policy. The
changes would address the lack of a
clear procedure in the city’s default
policy for home loan programs
offered by the city.
