Welcome to the Hueneme Pilot’s newest feature, the
Restaurant & Dining Guide. Each issue we plan to
feature a new restaurant or entertainment column
featuring businesses from Port Hueneme and Oxnard.

For Moqueca Brazilian Cuisine, the secret is in the pots.
The restaurant, which recently celebrated its first
anniversary in the Marine Emporium Landing, Channel
Islands Harbor, specializes in using the black clay pots to
make the traditional stews of owner Gloria Sarcinelli’s
homeland.
The same pots are used to cook and serve the seafood
stews, called moqueca, that are famous in Victoria, Espirito
Santa, Brazil. It is from these dishes that Sarcinelli decided
to name her restaurant.
“My specialty is the moqueca,” Sarcinelli says. “I didn’t want
to do something I’m not good at.”
