County fire, police units raise gloves, funds
Ventura County firefighters
proved they could fight more
than fires during the first Battle
of the Badges charity boxing
challenge Dec. 5, but the real
winner was the Boys & Girls
Clubs of Greater Oxnard and
Port Hueneme. The event,
held at Oceanview Pavilion in
Port Hueneme, raised about
$20,000 for the organization.
The firefighters, after falling
behind early, rallied to win.
