What is the Hueneme Pilot? Some old-timers might remember the name "Pilot" from 1963 when the old Port Hueneme Pilot folded (newspaper problems are not unique to today). The city of Port Hueneme has been without a functioning community newspaper for 45 years. As a result, an entire generation has grown into middle-age with little identity of its community.
It is the goal of the Hueneme Pilot to change that. We believe a newspaper is more than just a business. It is a community service. A community newspaper should provide an identity for the area it serves. We look to the Acorn of Agoura Hills, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Camarillo as an example.
The newspaper is the place to go to gather information about what is happening in the community. What events are coming up? Which of your neighbors are getting married? What issues in your community will have an impact on your life.
The Hueneme Pilot is here to serve you and your community. Let us know your interests and concerns. We're ready to listen.
If events, issues and happenings in your neighborhood are of interest to you, they are of interest to the Pilot. Be sure to let us know about it.
Hi. I'm Loran Lewis, the new owner and publisher of the "very start-up" Hueneme Pilot. I use that term because the newspaper is beginning on the proverbial shoestring. But from these modest beginnings my hope is to grow the Pilot into the type of publication to which the community can turn for news and comment.
